tomato downstairs, pepper upstairs

i started giving the plants water in the form of “mist” using a water spray bottle in the balcony, and using the spray fog setting in the nozzle on the water hose on the roof. so it protects delicate plants like carrot for example.

cucumber green leaves

yesterday, after 4-5 days from the day i planted the garden, a few sprouts germinated, the most developed of them now is the balcony cucumber 🙂

outside on the roof, the zucchini sprouted, but was cut by something (i guess a bird tried to eat it) 🙁

Natural Green SEEDS

hi everybody! 😀

i started a new garden (in pots on my roof and a little in my balcony) from seeds by this very nice company (i bought them in Nitzat HaDuvdevan shop) that employs people with special needs, so i think it’s so cool that i honored them with the name of my post – this is the company’s name! 🙂

Ok so now i will add a few photos so that you can see the (still as of yet) empty pots – but they are filled with earth and hope! 😉

i’m an idiot!

these are pictures from garden visit May 27th. in the visit before that which was May 19th i made a stupid mistake of thinking that the potato leaves were not potato, i looked in Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potato

and what i have in my garden doesn’t look like what Wikipedia’s pictures show. so i stupidly pulled it out of the ground like weeds. so after i tore off the larges stalk, the smaller stalks came out with the potato. stupid me! so it’s not a weed, it was the good potato! so i tried to plant it back in the middle of the flowerpot, and i hope it will grow. in the last visit it looked green and still alive so hope hope! 🙂

the last photo is the small potato stalks that remained attached to the potato “tuber” stem. so a small part of them is buried in the ground now, but still, because of what i’ve done, they don’t grow straight upwards nicely like they originally did. 😕

garden visit May 6th

visited my apartment and the onions and carrots are still the only ones that sprouted. but i think maybe the potato and sweet potato and the pepper had some beginning of a sprout too, so i watered them too in any case. 🙂

onions like in ‘Allo ‘Allo!

yesterday i visited my apartment and i found out that the onions sprouted! so i’m taking this opportunity to reminisce about one of the funniest TV shows ever: allo allo! it’s a British sit com taking place in WWII France in a small village where the cafe owner Rene is busy all the time hitting on the waitresses and dodging his wife and the Germans and the French Resistance. it’s really funny and i watched all the seasons including once with my family.

i even wrote a letter to a lady who played one of the waitresses – Vicki Michelle (who played Yvette Carte-Blanche) – and she was so great she answered my email and said she’s happy that people are enjoying the show in Israel! she is so cool!

if you didn’t watch the show and don’t see what all this has to do with onions, it was one of the repeating motifs of the series that the characters wore disguises and one of the popular ones was an onion seller, like for example Monsieur Roger Leclerc (Jack Haig) who would say “It is I, Leclerc” when it was obvious from a thousand miles that it was him! ha ha 😆

still only carrots

to lift our spirits here is a joke about carrots from the book “How to Behave in a Crowd”:

one morning in the convent, mother superior comes down to the commons to announce what the nuns will have for dinner that night. ‘Tonight, carrots!’ she says, and all the nuns are really excited and go, ‘Ooooooh!’ but then the Mother Superior specifies ‘Grated!’ and all the nuns go, ‘Boooooo!’ 😆

Eh…What’s up, doc?

ok so i visited my home and watered the plants yesterday and saw that the only sign of life was the carrots so i took a picture, and next time i’ll be there i’ll try to remember to update with more exciting news from my garden! 😛

as you sow, so shall you reap

ok so i finished to plant and also to water the garden. in each pot i put one kind of plant. oh, except tomatoes, cucumbers and apples which have two pots. Each pot has two whole “fruits” and one cut into half. i hope something will grow out of all this! i planted: tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, apples, bananas, gingers and lemons! 😀

i beg your pardon i never promised you a rose garden!

i decided to start an organic garden by trying to grow at home the organic fruits and vegetables that i buy in the supermarket! in this times of Corona Virus i’m hoping also the garden will provide my family (me and my parents) fresh fruits and vegetables if we can’t get them on the store. Unfortunately now it looks like there will be a lockdown soon (everybody will have to stay in their homes). This means that i will stay with my parents, at their apartment, and i will not be able to come to my apartment and water the plants. so although i got the pots and earth and also the fruits and vegetables i’m not sure if i should begin yet. The plants as you can see in the picture will be in my balcony which is closed, so there is no rain or any irrigation. Perhaps i will just start with some of them. anyway i wish myself GOOD LUCK in this new adventure! 😎
